Hypertension

Losartan block the vasoconstrictor and aldosterone secreting effects of angiotensin II by selectively blocking the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor found in many tissues. Hydrochlorothiazide increases renal excretion of sodium and chloride and reduces cardiac load. Two drug exerts additive effects in hypertension.

Losartan is well absorbed; systemic bioaviability is about 33%: about 14% of an oral dose is converted to active metabolite. Hydrochlorothiazide bioaviability is 50-60%.it is not metabolized but eliminated by the kidney.

Adult: per tab contain losartan 50mg and hydrochlorothiazide 12.5mg: 1 tab once daily. Upto 2 tab once week 2-4 week later if needed. Max: 2 tab/day
