Hypertension

ANSART-AM is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) and a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker (DHP-CCB) combination product indicated for the treatment of hypertension alone or with other antihypertensive agents ANSART-AM is also indicated as initial therapy in patients likely to need multiple antihypertensive agents to achieve their blood pressure goals.

Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker that works by blocking a substance in the body that causes blood vessels to tighten. As a result, the blood vessels relax and this decreases blood pressure. When blood pressure is lowered, the amount of blood and oxygen that go to the heart is increased. While amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker (CCB). It affects the movement of calcium into the cells of the heart and blood vessels. As a result, amlodipine relaxes the blood vessels and increases the supply of blood and oxygen to the heart while reducing its workload.

Dosing is done by substituting its individually titrated components for patients on amlodipine and telmisartan.
