Migraine Prophylaxis, Essential Tremor

POLOL is a beta blocker, which blocks the beta adrenergic receptors in the vascular smooth muscles and thus results in vasoconstriction of blood vessels , thus relieving migraine headache.

POLOL is highly lipophilic and almost completely absorbed after oral administration. However, it undergoes high first-pass metabolism by the liver and on average, only about 25% of propranolol reaches the systemic circulation. Peak plasma concentrations occur about 1 to 4 hours after an oral dose. The plasma half-life of propranolol is from 3 to 6 hours.

Migraine prophylaxis : Starting 80mg orally per day in divided doses. Then maintenance dose of 160-240mg can be prescribed. Essential tremor : Initial 40mg POLOL orally twice a day. Maintenance dose of 120-320mg orally per day.

Polol is available as an Alu-Alu strip of 10 tablets in a box of 10 x 10’s
