Hypertension Hypertension with LVH

Losartan block the vasoconstrictor and aldosterone secreting effects of angiotensin II by selectively blocking the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor found in many tissues. Amlodipine is a calcium antagonist that inhibits influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle.

Losartan is well absorbed; systemic bioavailability is about 33%; about 14% of an oral dose is converted to active metabolites. Amlodipine's peak plasma level is 6-12hr; bioavailability 64-90%; 93% bound to plasma proteins.

Adult: initial one tablet once daily; may increase to 2 tablets daily if the BP control is inadequate after 1-2weeks.

Available as a blister strip of 10 tablets in a box of 10 X 10s
